I think "utter crap" is a bit strong, but after seeing the film last week, I was surprised to see how enthusiastic the reviews had been for a soppy love story with some less than great music. Maybe you had to be a child of the 80s, just as I thought School of Rock might have been a masterpiece for children of the 70s.
