Having an allergy to films that are 3 hours long, I fully expected to come out in a rash of boredom and sore-backside syndrome. Fantasy fluff isn't really my thing, especially when it involves 9-foot smurfs, 3D CGI ('the future of cinema!!!'), and a plot that has as many twists and turns as a metal ruler. But I thought this was rather good. It certainly went by quicker than 3 hours and there were no complaints from the rear.

I've just been telling everyone to just go see it, leave their preconceptions and critical faculties at home, sit there and bathe in the astonishingly beautiful landscape and the perfectly imagined lifeforms.

And if you have to the chance seek it out in 3D...

it is brilliant, and as much as you might love or hate once you start to think about it, you won't be able to stop yourself enjoying it....

I borrowed my Dad's Avatar video last night and wondered if it was really as good as all the hype when it first came out. It was really just the old western story adapted for another world. Some greedy, control freaks who wanted whatever they wanted and were going to bulldoze the natives out of the way to get it. I loved the beautiful artwork, of the forest. The colorful hanging vines, and floating creatues that looked like a cross between dandilion seeds floating around and jelly fish. It looked like they took some of the beautiful, colorful lights of the deep sea creatures and adapted them for scenes for a different world. They're whole world looked beautiful.
