An eclectic broadcast of global roots and grooves as always. Influenced by the Sensoria film festival at Sheffield’s Showroom cinema which is showing The Weird World of Harry Smith and the UK premiere of Slingshot Hip Hop a film by Jackie Salloum about Palestinian Hip Hop.

So to coincide with this, I invited Dave Eyre, presenter of Thank Goodness its Folk here on Sheffield Live! on Friday mornings, to talk about his special programme coming up on the life and works of Harry of the original record diggers who collected records from 1927 -1932 in America. He brings some Dock Boggs into the studio.

I also rebroadcast the interview with Randa Safieh who was researching Palestinian hip hop for her masters degree.

Plus our album of the week comes from Fourth World and Sauti Za Busara - Festival Classics.

and in a week that saw Severn Trent Water fined a record £38.5 million
and 6 Maasai Warriors running in the London Marathon to raise £22K for a fresh water bore hole in their home village in Tanzania, we play Benji Kirkpatrick's Wallbreaker and ask what will OFWAT spend that fine on?

Here's the links to the playlist and the podcasts.
