I know many here are regular listeners to Cerys on 6, but in case anyone missed her interview with Rory's brother a couple of weeks ago, it's more than worth catching up on.

Anyone know how far into the show the interview conversation is?

Sorry, Chris, I can't. It's well worth a listen to the whole show.

James Burton was her guest y'day, for an hour. I love her show, and Sunday mornings keep me in and around the kitchen while she's on. But as an interviewer, she has a way to go, and some of her music tie-ins leave a lot to be desired. Choosing "Hello Mary Lou" as the example of James Burton's Ricky Nelson phase was uninspiring. His Elvis work with the TCB boys was important for his career but still a bit bland for music-nut listeners like me.

It just reinforced to me how good a radio interviewer Charlie Gillett was. He'd almost certainly have played something by Lowman Pauling of The 5 Royales, for example, encouraging James Burton to talk about his own influences and guitar heroes, which would have been much better than him telling the same old Elvis anecdotes again.

Small-fry criticism from me, I suppose. She's still one of the best radio presenters around, and her show is a rock in the sea of radio blandness.

It is available as a separate clip (probably with the music edited out)

And I think Charlie would have explained why the guest who was billed to do a session, and who had been trailed the previous week, Barna Howard, was substituted. More small-fry criticism, I know, especially in view of the chap who filled in.
I was prompted to quickly check out Barna Howard, who's a new name to me. A bit singer-songwritery, but worth a longer listen, i thought.

But Barna Howard was on, Mike, talking and playing live later in the programme.

Right, Norman. I skipped it because since he was live, he didn't appear on the program playlist. There's one more nit that can rest unpicked.
