The next "No Reason"

Dear hipsters, flipsters, and finger-poppin' daddies - knock me your lobes.

The next edition of "No Reason" won't be on your shelves on the 26th of Sept, we're sorry to tell you.

Gary and I set ourselves the target of getting the podcast online by the same date every month (give or take a holiday), and we managed that proudly for 26 shows over the last two and a half years.

However a combination of unavoidable factors means that we're gonna have to put things on hold for a while, and put new shows out less frequently. Work and other commitments have given us both less free time, and we're having to sort out difficulties we've been having with the server, and its space allocation. We may have to start deleting the earlier shows (which are becoming as rare as mint London-American label 45s in the original wrapper), or archive them elsewhere. Either way, we haven't had the time to sort these logistical difficulties out, so regrettably we've decided to have a short break.

We don't think we'll be able to produce future podcasts on a regular monthly basis, and we're planning the next one for a couple of months time, or as an end of year round up and review.

We'll be back - we've even got the next Sublime Moment guest lined up.

And if anyone's still thinking of entering the competition to win the Ace Records compilation of the songs of Dan Penn, two words of advice: TOO LATE. They've gone (Ace sent us two, thank you Neil).

Please, feel no upset. Wipe your lamps, and watch the skies for news of NR 27.

In the meantime, have a listen to the words of The Lord, his royal hipness.

I for one will very much miss my monthly dose of NR.

Looking forward to the next one already!

Oh nooooo...

Very sad to hear this Norman. Your podcasts have become a regular bright spot in the otherwise dull existence that I lead; I'll just have to spend even more time tending to my belly button fluff farm.

Worse things happen at sea.

Radio Caroline was always going off the air for refitting and transmitter repairs. They usually promised to come back bigger and better( and with more records by The Dubliners and David McWilliams).

I've always wanted to set up a Celtic-Klezmer band called The Lubliners.

Maybe we should have checked out of NR 26 with this Nick Lowe song

These are hard times indeed. I also look forward to each month's programme. Gary and Norman do such a good job with it. They manage to induce those rare moments of Irrational Exuberance in an otherwise rather meagre musical landscape. Someone should be paying them to keep going, as a kind of public service.

I shall write to the Times ......

What can one say? I'm gonna miss our Dynamic Duo's knowledgeable and eclectic podcasts which have hitherto broadened my narrow musical tastes. "Rare moments of Irrational Exuberance"? Perfect, David.

Until when I'll be scraping the barrel for scratchy blues.
