Cohn uses words beautifully and has interesting things to say. Having listened twice I must say that I find his dismissal of all NO music beyond bounce (the local gangsta rap) as for "white tourists" wrong and wrongheaded. Yes, black teenagers in NO do listen to a lot of rap but some also play in brass bands or jazz. The way he dismissed how the Mardi Gras Indians have been coopted was, to my mind - and I visit NO whenever I can - untrue. Yes, they are no longer just known to the Lower 9th Ward but they remain very true to and proud of their culture - it's not like they have been Disneyfied.

Typical Cohn then - a mix of brilliance and bullshit.

Yep.

"Not having met someone never prevented me from describing my interview with them" - Nik Cohn.
