Hitting A Moving Target?

Stefan Wirz has attempted some ambitious discographical project in his time but this latest departure (Persons behind the 'American Music' scene) is likely to keep him occupied for the rest of his existence.

He's also happy to receive suggestions etc via his website.

Definitely a case of "what this space".

Stefan Wirz confounds me - the enormity of his projects. This recent addition is absolutely fascinating by the photos alone. And hey, Alan, those are some great shots of you looking foxy even. What is "Euroweenie"?

You don't wanna know. [laugh]

Seriously if you click the link under the photo of myself with Bill Rowe and Larry Johnson it will take you to a US blues discussion board of that name. It's basically aimed at singer/guitarists and once a year some of the UK membership find their way their guitars to a venue in the New Forest with and spend the time entertaining each other with their various vocal/guitar skills. I gave them a talk about the history of UK blues literature, its growth and appreciation. This was illustrated with ancient book and magazines some of which can be are on the table in one of the pictures.

Thanks, Alan. Of course you would have supplied visuals. I'm currently listening to Weenie Juke Radio (love the name) via iTunes. I think right now it's Blind Willie McTell singing "Stomp Down Rider". For those of you who like "Blues, Acoustic...Country... and Delta Blues":

I have it playing all the time I'm logged in. You can also requests specific songs by clicking Play List. However, it takes sometime for the choices to get slotted into the preordained schedule.

That truly is epic! Lovely seeing the photos of you as a young collector, Alan. And I would never have known that the legendary record man Ralph Bass went down in a plane crash - go figure!

Does he ever sleep? I've had the Blues Magazines page bookmarked for further investigation since it recently appeared, and now there's this which already looks like a major work. It's interesting to see photos of some people who I've previously only known from their writing.

Some further nominations that came to mind - Ted Carroll & Roger Armstrong of Ace Records; Guy Stevens; Chris Barber & Ottilie Patterson ....

These are already in his ever growing list of "to be added". I dug out the feature by Guy Stevens about Sue in a very issue of Jazz Beat and scanned the photo accompanying it. Watch that space. (grin)
