There's a live studio session from Balkan 'super group' Mahala Rai Banda on Cerys Matthews's 10.00 - 12.00 Sunday morning show.

Cerys also gives a good plug to Garth Cartwright's "Princes Amongst Men" book and CD: "The best book I've read over the summer".

Thanks Norman.

This week's show is also of interest as it has a professor of American History speaking about how Harry Smith's awesome Anthology came together and its influence. He answers a question from a listener about Vol 4 of the Anthology - one Norman Druker having sent the query in.

Cerys has the best radio show since Charlie - always a pleasure to listen.

Cerys has just further ascended to secular sainthood by playing Dona Dumitru Siminic's
Afare E Intuneric. And right now Little Willie John's Don't Play With Love
She can do no wrong!

Just listened - I was preoccupied on Sunday - and they have used the Chris intv very well, blending his voice with music. And he is such a lyrical storyteller!

Just listening now. The Chris Strachwitz interview worked a treat, I thought.

What with this, James Hunter on Jools and the No Reason podcast, all in the last 24 hours, I feel truly blessed. My audio cup runeth over.

It's Sunday morning on BBC 6 again. Cerys Matthews is doing a special on keyboards. I said: "I wonder if Washington Phillips will get a look in?", them - boom - he's on!

No, as far as I heard. Good taste only extended as far as Professor Longhair. Not even Russ Conway - I ask you! Nor Reginald Dixon.

I feel as though someone should mention Bobby Crush at this point, although in all honesty I don't really remember who he was.

Ha, well, though I don't forgive you for offering up his name Jamie, I can inform you that by way of twitter my wife, laughing out loud, was recently able to inform me that Bobby had recently taken out to dinner none other than Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson. I always knew these people operated in gangs. Such information is gold dust to those that know showbiz.

Bobby Crush, Pearl Carr, Teddy Johnson... these are all names I know without really knowing who they are. Maybe that's for the best.

Pearl Carr & Teddy Johnson - sang for the UK in an early Eurovision; married couple; sang duets; ferociously winsome.

Bobby Crush: British 1970s variant of Liberace; Opportunity Knocks winner; member of Danny La Rue's inner sanctum (sic); wrote Orville's Song for the big green duck.

No need to thank me.
