Your show was a boon - I'd been on the internet trying to find out what was going on in London and it was not only a bit frustrating (less so than when we only had radio or tv) as everyone knows it can be when disaster or violence strikes an area and more so, possibly loved ones when one is a continent away. I'd started to feel obsessive but couldn't quite pull away and then I saw, via email, the next installment of your show was out. The music, the comments - a link to London.

Love "The Cambodian Space Project" track. And, as always, the duduk (will go back and find the title and insert here later).

Thank you again Judith. There was so much going on here in London last week that I felt it was important to share what people were saying and experiencing. There's more on the new show which is online and at iTunes now.
This week A World In London features some brilliant new CDs by Middle Eastern percussion maestro, Hossam Ramzy; esteemed producer of Mariza/Yasmin Levy/Buika, Javier Limon; and an exclusive preview of the debut album by rising Tunisian starlet, Emel Mathlouthi. DJ Ritu also gives an update on London in the aftermath of the recent riots plus the effects on independent world music record companies.
COMPETITION! Two tickets for the ‘Asia Rocks’ event at the Royal Albert Hall, September 18th. Just answer the following question: what is the surname of famous singer ‘Shankar’ who forms part of the composing trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy? Write to djritu@soasradio.org or djritu@djritu.com

Some great new CDs in AWIL 7, predominantly by some of the world’s leading female singers who all have album releases in September & October. A chance then for you to preview ‘Amulette’ by Bosnia’s Billie Holiday – AMIRA MEDUNJANIN, ‘Optum’ by Turkish pop queen – SEZEN AKSU, and ‘Dreaming’ from Brazilian bossa-nova star – SABRINA MALHEIROS.

Fall has shifted rather abruptly into winter on this side of the pond next to this other ocean, but that didn't lessen my enjoyment of your show. The ending track, "Devalki", is really lovely.

Hi Judith,
Thank you so much again for feedback. It really is useful. The Putumayo YOGA album is quite interesting so I think you might like more of the tracks on there.
Good news...AWIL has now reached the homepage of iTunes - London Podcasts - in just two months of being a podcast. Not good news.. BBC has announced more cuts which will affect the Asian music show I've been presenting for 20 years. And all music programmes at local BBC stations. If only we could create an alternative to the Beeb...
Weather here has been so wonderful - Indian Summer as I mentioned on the show- but now temps are dropping. In fact it's jolly cold here in London! I've got an extra sweater on now plus central heating. Going to take Dizee Dog out before any potential rain!!
Are you on Facebook? She's there on deejay ritu page.

A double-helping of AWIL is now online and at iTunes. Catch episode 14 for the regular music mix hour, and then Pink Martini in conversation on episode 15!

Enjoyed that, thanks! I've Fb liked them, so if they ever venture 50 to 100 miles north west of the Great Wen (unlikely?), we'll go see them
