World Of Music with Mark Coles

Postby guild.navigator » Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:08 am

Don't have internet access very often, but I'm house-sitting for a while in a decent location. Anyway, I was happy to see I had an e-mail about Mark Coles' new site. Seems he is bringing back the World of Music (minus the BBC)for the internet and hopefully radio in the future. Listening to the first program right now:)

Thanks for the tip, Mr. Navigator.

Like that studio. Now, for the mashup between Mark Coles and the No Reason crew!

Love all this home-grown spreading of musical culture.

I really liked his opening track " Intru Alle Ronde" from Nidi D'Arac from the album Taranta Container — sort of dubbed out Italian accordion. You who like such things know who you are — easy to find on the 'net.

I think this is great news. Mark Coles did a fine job with WOM, and now he has a format which gives him more freedom and more time to play interesting stuff. He's just what one wants in a radio dj; he has wide interests and he communicates real enthusiasm for the music he's playing, just as Charlie did.

This week's playlist

1. Nidi D'Arac ( Intru Alle Ronde) from the album "Taranta Container" TA 003
2. Ben L'Oncle Soul (Seven Nation Army) taken from the album "L'Oncle Soul" on Blue Wrasse Records 2758797
3. Dub Colossus (Guragigna) taken from the album "Addis Through The Looking Glass" on Real World Records
4. Blind Note (Chiraki Par) from the album "Blindnote" on Muziek Publique 003
5. Art Melody and Redrum (Beog Kamba) from the album "Zound Zande" Banzai Lab/ Tentacule Records Blab331Oarto1
6. Brian Eno (Glitch) from the album "Drums Between The Bells" on Warp
7. Talvin Singh +Niladri Kumar (River) from the album "Together" on World Village/Harmonia Mundi 450016
