A proper Hello everybody

Hello everybody,

I introduced myself a while ago on my first contribution, but I'd like to do it properly this time.
I am Kari Salonen, age 44 and I work as a freelance translator for Finnish TV. I am finnish and I live in Helsinki.
I am one of the "just a music fans" on this forum, but I've had the pleasure of translating a number of world music documentaries for TV.

Likes most to: idle away and gape in awe at life, universe and everything.
Dislikes: too few to bother about.
Favourite obsessions: music, archaelogy and cultural history.

Why am I here? I discovered a forum where I could learn much and maybe even contribute a little every now and then. And I liked the general atmosphere.

Hello, kas. Pleased to meet you. Your contribution and information on the thread about Bhangra - I have already found quite useful.

Lost in translation? I hope not.

Hello Kas. Nice to meet a fellow translator on here.

In Spanish it would be (I think) 'nopuedodormirlospayasosvanamatarme'.

I think it's a very good idea that new members introduce themselves - perhaps we could have a special section and higher up the board!

I agree about introductions being very welcome, but not about pushing the thread higher up the board. It's already a juggle to keep the topics that attract most attention up there, and this is by definition likely to be a succession of one-off items, unlikely to turn in to a rabid controversy or a long series of replies and comments

Welcome aboard Kas. Expect trivia, fasinating info, lots of calm and the occasional tidal wave as forumistas slug it out in cyberspace.
