I'm getting plagued by various popups that have appeared on the forum. The irritating one is when certain words or phrases are underlined, with a link for you to click to an advert (I try not to). The culprit is a company called VidX. Also, lots of adverts above and between postings. "Game of Thr*nes" anyone? (* inserted to avoid another link)

I use Firefox v.30.0, and Mac OS 10.8.5. Any advice, folks? Ta.

I had a similar problem a while back which appeared to have been caused by some "adware" that I had inadvertently acquired when downloading a supposedly essential update on an existing programme. Research indicated that "free downloads" are available from various sources for removing adware, but I was unsure that this might not make the problem worse so I just went to the Control Panel and uninstalled all the recently installed programmes which I didn't recognise. It worked for me, although I'm the last person to advise anyone about computers ....
