I'd like to endorse the comments about Tony Hall - I would always avidly read his column in the Record Mirror during the mid 60s.

Anyone got details please for Tony Hall. I used to spin the records for him on all his Radio Luxembourg shows.

Tony, who was then coming up to his 80th birthday, still had a management company in Soho at the time that Charlie met him in 2008. He was also then writing reviews for "Jazzwise", and a quick look at their website found one that he wrote last September, so you might be possible to get in touch via the magazine.

I always enjoyed his radio shows, and his column in "Record Mirror"

Nice clip with Tony Hall talking about the independent promotion company he started after leaving Decca Records in 1967, and the first record he then promoted - '007' by Desmond Dekker & the Aces for Pyramid Records

I don't think so Alan - he still appears to have been reviewing albums for "Jazzwise" fairly recently

thanks for that John. I was talking to Dave Mindel (session musician) via Facebook and he said Tony was his manager between 1969 - 1971, I asked if he was still in touch and he replied " No, Alan in 1969-1971. Sadly, he passed away some years ago". The mystery deepens.

There's a nice article on Tony Hall and his career in the latest issue of "Record Collector" magazine. He's 84 now, but he says he still goes in to his Soho office a couple of days most weeks.
