For those who might like to view Charlie's 1970 Pye compilation Blues From The Bayou it features in this discography.

Thank you Alan - I don't remember seeing a copy of the LP before.

Here's one of the tracks (from a scratchy 45) - 'Jelly Jam' by George (Wild Child) Butler

A couple of years earlier I was sent by Tony Martin of Python Records a Jewel compilation entitled Blues Today - Southern Style to review. http://www.wirz.de/music/pythofrm.htm

At some later time I loaned this to Charlie and it inspired him to compile a 'legit' release.

Thanks for this thread Alan. I was only thinking of Arthur Crudup yesterday while looking at the Fire/Fury Records Story 2 CD Set (Capricorn Records) in the context of Bobby Robinson's recent death.
But do you or John, or anybody here, know if you can get the Arthur Crudup CD (which is in the Stefan Wirz discography) 'Rock Me Mamma' in this country?
It's Vol 7 of the 'When The Sun Goes Down: The Secret History Of Rock & Roll' series on Bluebird. I have the first 4 CDs in a box set and I noticed Amazon have Vol 5 (Leadbelly) available over here.

I think that's generally now only available on CD if you're prepared to pay a high price, although it can still be downloaded. Otherwise, many of the tracks will appear on "out of copyright" CDs such as "Gonna Be Some Changes" on RevOla Records -

Thanks John. I noticed it was an Amazon & iTunes download after I posted earlier. But I think I'll pay more and get the actual disc from the U.S.
