Great news from the extended Waterson clan - Marry & Oliver, daughter and son of the late Lal, are releasing an album early in 2011. Having seen Marry sing superbly on stage with the family en masse, and thought 'If only she'd release some recordings', all I can say is hurrah.

And a new June Tabor album in Feb, too, sea-themed including a cover of 'Shipbuilding'. Ace.

I saw Oliver and Marry do a low-key gig at the New Empowering Church in Hackney. Lots of her mum's songs and a voice just like her, so quite an odd experience, but it was promising...

Great name for a venue! Marry did 'Fine Horseman' (what a song) at the big Watersons concert at the Albert Hall a couple of years ago, so like her mother it was spooky.
