It is really very beautiful, kk. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

In return, I recently received an email from Real World Records about Les Amazones de Afrique. I have listened to one of the tracks, but not the entire composition/album. I must say, that the sentiments of the album have appealed to me very much, as well as the music itself. I think that you might like it too.

I know that what Charlie called "world music' has been of itself, vague for awhile (along with other vagaries - and you know what I mean). Curiously (in the Alice in Wonderland context), it (music) has come back, with it's own assertion> Think about it -- among all the insanity of the past few months, how often has music been mentioned.

HowardI know you have opinions on this. Give a comment.

hi judith :) Howard doesn't (to the best of my knowledge), look at this music a.o. forum, unless someone gets in touch with him to let him know there's some discussion going on he may be interested in. For example David bowie was discussed sometime before his death, here; and Charlie's birthday thread a few days back. Let me know if you have no way of contacting him (in that event, I could let him know there's a thread topic here for him)

Hello Judith - I hope you're bearing up well in this constant age of insecurity and pre-war.....

"How often has music been mentioned....?" I can't easily answer that one, but can ponder on its significance. To me, music's internationalism is the important element in breaking down borders between us all.

On Seckou Keita, here's a stream of an interview he did on SOAS* Radio a couple of years ago, with DJ Ritu of these parts

Didn't either Larry or Bill Morganfield name one of their sons Transparent? Very apposite as it turned out, as I believe she/he is transgendered these days, and she does indeed have a child herself albeit possibly a stepdaughter. What with having a famous grandparent, I'm sure everyone can guess what Transparent's nickname was
