This looks like musical catnip/crack cocaine/Rioja (please delete according to species, drug habits and class). Lots of wonderful old stuff from all over the place including the African Dance Band of The Cold Storage Commission, a new name to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxbYzXbrItA

Where do I know that tune from? it's so familiar.

It seems to go through my head every time I open the fridge.

It's one of the most famous South African (Southern Rhodesian to be more accurate) tunes, I rememberJulian Bahula or District Six used to play it live. But it's one of those biggies - Satchmo covered it: https://youtu.be/kM67IUgsrc8
Hugh Massekela & Herb Alpert: https://youtu.be/rgyCUWAaV3s
as did Perez Prado: https://youtu.be/JJEw_FyG4fQ
even Bill Haley: https://youtu.be/eQtPZOKnUbI - his final chart hit in the states

That's the original recorded version from 1947 then, although it sounds very clean for such a vintage

Thanks Chris. The Satchmo version is a new one on me. I'll pass on Bill Haley.

I own up to making a lousy joke. Maybe I should have used a better punchline. Or a better joke.

Bill Hayley's is the least interesting version by far, but I prefer his vocal on this to his cover of Shake Rattle and Roll!

I can second Jamie's recommendation for this collection: it's one of those compilations that are just a pure joy from beginning to end.

Yes. Even the songs I thought I didn't like, I find myself enjoying in this context.
