Hotel Bangkok by Blue Asia

Postby howard male » Mon Mar 20, 2006 12:28 pm

Title - Hotel Bangkok
Artist - Blue Asia
Label - King (Japan)
UK distribution - Far Side Music

At first Hotel Bangkok by Blue Asia is the listening experience equivalent of trying to rub your stomach with one hand whilst patting your head with the other: the juxtaposition of rasping traditional instruments and shrill Eastern melodies, with soft jazz piano chords and chunky contemporary dance grooves, seems perverse and awkward in the extreme. But after the second of third listen, producer Makoto Kubota's vision of bringing these two disparate musical traditions together, starts to make sense. Kubota; who is Blue Asia - has already done similar projects in Turkey, Bali and Vietnam, but this is probably the most successful so far. So if you're curious as to what pop music from Jupiter might sound like, give this a listen!

Charlie,

My name is Michael G. Haskins from NY, NY. I listened to your program over the weekend and really liked your selections and said my listeners would like some of what I heard as well.

I am the chief announcer of a commercial free listener sponsored radio
station in New York. I have the freedom to play any type of music that
I choose. The couple of times that I have listened to you I would play much
of what you do. The question I have for you today is, are these selections available in the U.S. I want to play, say Hotel Bangkok in the worst way. Do you have any info, I would be greatful. My e-mail address mghaskins@yahoo.com.

Thanks
