New Anoushka Shankar album

This sounds fascinating. 'Traveller' puts sitar music together with Hispanic influences, primarily flamenco. Concha Buika sings on one track & it's produced by Mariza/Buika producer Javier Limon. A sitar playing flamenco 'riffs' sounds pretty ace. Not much on YouTube save a record company promo interview & a Spanish TV report with focuses on the Buika angle, but I'll link to them until someone finds something better.

Fascinating, Captain.

Not sold on sitar playing Flamenco - or maybe it's just Anoushka playing Flamenco - but Concha Buika... ooooohhh... Thank you so much for the introduction.

If you want more of Concha Buika Adam, she features as the entertainment in the wedding party sequence of Almodovar's 'The Skin I Live In'. And very good she is too.

(Apologies for thread drift. The promo piece suggests this album should be well worth checking out.)

Andy, like you I got this month's Songlines and on first play the Buika track seemed okay but nothing more - a bit like 'they're all punching below their weight' - but I played it again and I enjoyed it more. I'm hoping, even though this is Songlines choice, that the album has better tracks?
