Mamani Keita - Gagner L'Argent Francais

Postby Chris P » Wed Jun 08, 2011 6:58 pm

Due for release later this month. Currently streaming:

http://www.noformat.net/MAMANI+KEITA-GAGNER+LARGENT+FRANCAIS-medias.html

on first listen its no match for Yelema or Electro Bamako. The 'western' elements are a bit more straight down the line, and several tunes fairly bland.

That's a shame - I loved Yelema.

Well possibly it's all down to personal taste, or maybe that I'm listening to it off a proper CD rather than via e-string and e-cocoa tins, but I'm greatly enjoying it. Nice package too. So you can be cheered up a smidgin, Des.

Also enjoying this one very much (via my ulimited subscription to qobuz.com). The first track is the one with punch, and I can see why other tracks could be called bland, yet it all works together well IMVHO. Great for the gym...

on further listens I am more aware of its charms, not fully recanting, but I like (most of) it. Mamani's singing & the integration of West African kamelngoni, kora or other detail in instrumentation, make it (most of the time). Lopa played Sinikan last week on her show & not recognising it, I was hooked, waiting to hear what it was
