Ok, I know I'm biased but I'm nowhere to be found on this album (sadly for me) and it's just gorgeous. I'm not sure when it's coming out, I just got a promo from 'Shop HQ. Just checking it out and I really like it!

Here's a track with a brand new vid to go with:

I absolutely love this, both song & video!
I believe that it's a pure punjabi pop album & will also include the equally fabulous Topknot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRKkBhk2yVM

Album tracklist is here:

I should have posted a link to the "pledge" page ages ago, but it's not too late to pre-order: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/cornershop

You can buy your launch party tickets at the same time; that way you get the album download for free.

Launch party (no suggestion that the group is playing) is on 10th March at Cafe Oto, with the official release date 14th March.

I'm looking forward to this album so much!

Yeah, you and me both Dominic. I've been badgering Tjinder about this project for about five years. I can only say that the album is not a pure Punjabi pop album - nothing about Cornershop is pure! But Bubbly's voice is a pure Punjabi pop voice, that much is true. The backing's however... :)

By the way, the little Asian boy in the vid is Tjinder's son.

"folksy fingerpicking guitar, baroque harpsichords, trumpet roundels, big-band horn arrangements, glam rock shuffles and snatches of kitsch exotica" according to today's Guardian!

Re the first video - I think the adult male is Gordon (? surname?) who was brilliant as the lead in My Beautiful Laundrette. His career seemed to stall after that, while his co-star Daniel Day-Lewis of course went on to bigger things. Film industry racism ahoy......

Great music, btw.

Gordon Warnecke. His cv does look a bit thin: Boon, Brookside, The Bill..., but he looks fit & happy in the video!
