The latest CD round-up on the artsdesk

Postby howard male » Tue Jun 01, 2010 3:30 pm

Here's the latest CD round-up on the artsdesk.com. How refreshing it is to find world music CD reviews just folded in with the all the other trance, indie, rock stuff, under the so-simple-it's-perfect heading 'New Music.'

CD of the month is Sue Steward on Choc Quib Town and she also writes about the Ipanemas, Howard is on Konono no1 and South African funk- and there's Keith Jarrett, Tracey Thorn, Hindi Zahra etc

Thanks a lot, Howard.

Choc Quib Town played here last weekend in an open-air festival, but I narrowly missed them. Bummer! Now I know I shouldn't have.

I feel for you, Kas. I hate it when that happens. And it's even worse when it's a world music act, as you can never be sure if they'll ever come back (not that I want to rub salt in your wounds!)

The ChocQuibTown CD is rapidly becoming one of my favourites of the year - it has an addictive quality about it. Certainly one of the best from that part of the world over the last few years.
