'Oh no' I hear some of our more jaded forumistas say, 'not yet another African compilation!' Ah but this one is very special, even for African compilation junkies like me. For a start it's by someone I had not come across before, and for another it's truly beautiful. The tracks date from the 70s through to the late 90s, and the Cameroun star has a fantastic quality controller on the evidence contained herein. Jazzy, loose-limbed and sunny arrangements, nice easy-going vocals, wonderful funky bass and delightfully subtle instrumental embellishments - it is the happiest of music and I just love this so very much.

Yes I agree - some very pleasing stuff - but not all of it. "Soul Tchamassi” (a Manu Dibango soundalike track) for example is extremely tedious.

Not the strongest track but I still like the groove and a great guitar solo, also great percussion and electric piano on this one. There again I'm a bit on the tedious side myself.
