Sat 15th April I'm doing a 15 minute DJ set at a DJ Relay at the Catford Constitutional. I know Norman's involved, so perhaps he can provide more details.

Thurs 21st April: Chilli Fried pres' Helen McDonald's Future Groove at Bedroom Bar Shoreditch. Helen sings with Yaabafunk and belts out funk, soul and jazz with her own band (think Nina Simone, Gil Scott-Heron) She's got one hell of a voice and I'll be DJing between the live sets. http://bedroom-bar.co.uk/whatson/

Fri 22nd April: Open the Gate at Passing Clouds, I'll be DJing all night between a great line-up of African bands, including headliners The Krar collective who play Ethiopian roots music in the finest style. The only other time I DJed for them, their lead singer climbed off the stage and got me up and dancing! http://openthegate.org.uk/events/event/otg-pc-apr2016/

Fri 6th May: Soulclectica at Bedroom Bar featuring myself and DJ Seb + special guest Fenomeno Show (Open the Gate) who, when he DJed with us last year, spun everything from Baaba Maal to Carl Perkins to the Beastie Boys!

Sat 11th June: Shout Collective pres Najma Akhtar Trio at Jamboree, Limehouse. I'm very excited about this. Judging by her short set at the recent Calais fundraiser at Bedroom Bar, Najma's on amazing form right now, singing a mix of Indian, blues and folk.

Thurs 21st July: Beats Against Cuts at Bedroom Bar. A fundraiser for DPAC (Disabled People Against Cuts) featuring the cream of London DJs. Already confirmed DJ IDS and MC GiddyOz. More names to follow.

Fri 12th August: DJ Relay Upstairs@Ritzy, Brixton. As ever, please let me know if you're interested in doing a 15 minute set.

More to follow I'm sure. And I'll post details of each event as they get neaerer.

Hopefully see some of you at some of them!

I think everyone here knows the score for DJ Relays, so the usual Renton Rules apply: "15 minutes of DJ fame", etc etc. So far, we have about 18 people signed up, and the fun starts at 7.30, running through to 11.30 or 12.00 if there's a queue at the DJ decks. No live act, just romping and stomping, bopping and hopping (am I getting the hang of this, Jamie?).

This is the first South East London try-out of the now legendary DJ Relay franchise - hopefully with many more to come.

The venue is the wonderful Catford Constitutional Club - Catford Broadway, SE6 4SP. The pub is a couple of minutes walk from Catford Bridge and Catford railway stations (from Charing X and Blackfriars respectively) and is becoming one of the area's best community pubs.

We have both well-known DJs and newcomers lined up, and if anyone wants to do a set, please let me know a.s.a.p. But do come on down.

Will DJ IDS be playing 'The Tracks Of My Tears'?

More like Thin Lizzy's "Don't Believe a Word"

I'm also now depping as host and DJ for Joe Cushley;s Balling the Jack night at the Blues Kitchen, Camden on Tues 3rd May, when live music will be provided by The Blood Tub Orchestra, who feature Tim Whelan of Transglobal Underground/London Zulu fame. Or as they put it:

"A legend of unknown provenance holds that, if you wait at the Old Street Roundabout at midnight, Satan will emerge from the shadows dressed as Burlington Bertie from Bow. He (or is it she?) will then reconfigure your laptop to be posessed by the Spirit of Music Hall, at which point it will wail, holler and testify in the style of Harry Champion and Marie Lloyd.
On Tuesday May 3rd the Blood Tub Orchestra shall visit the Camden Blues Kitchen, summon up the ghost of the British Blues One Century Before There Were Any British Blues, release it from it's Victorian chains, give it a good kicking and throw it around the room. All those wishing to be initiated are most welcome. Admission is free! We merely ask for your soul in return. Such a small thing..."
