The last but one gig in the current series:

Namlo
Wed 2nd Dec, 7.45pm (doors 7.15)

Sands Films, 82 St Marychurch St, Rotherhithe, London SE16 4HZ (2 min from Rotherhithe Overground Station)

Nepalese musician and SOAS graduate Ganga Thapa & his six-piece band Namlo will bring his homeland to Rotherhithe with poetic lyrics and melodies inspired by Himalayan foothills & mountains. The word “Namlo’’ is a strap used together with a “doko” basket for transporting goods. It evokes the weaving of the basket, thus symbolising cultural bonding and seeks to support the Nepalese diaspora worldwide. Ganga, with the help of his brothers, writes his own songs inspired by the breathtaking landscapes and nature of his native land, opening the door to the beautiful and under-represented music of his region. This will be an evening of discovery.
