Quiet Weekend

Quiet on the website this weekend. I think the Shout Collective are jumpin' the blues in Tuscany. I'm off to Rhythms of The World in Hitchin with a little less optimism than in previous years. The bill seems a little less of the world, and a little more from around the corner. I daresay I'll find something enjoyable and at least no rain is forecast.

Yup Will, we've been in deepest (and hilltop) Tuscany. How did ROTW go? I take your point about misleading festival names and blurb. Moseley Folk is being headlined by The Monkees (minus Nesmith - won't - and Jones - can't). But it's OK as the Charlatans are the second headliners!

I have rarely gone to festivals or gigs in any kind of group but the local nature of this one (ROTW) and the cheap admission makes it a good place to catch up with friends and take in a little music as well. So, I only went on the Sunday and only really had a good look at three or four acts. The sun was shining and the beer was good and I was at one with the world as I mused that there was nothing more simultaneously stupid and brilliant than Wooly Bully which Los Pacaminos wound up their set with. The encore, La Bamba ran it a close second. I was then chatting with friends oblivious to what was up next on the main stage, in fact I hadn't even registered that a band was up and playing. I thought it was recorded stuff, but twenty minutes into their set I caught up with Dutch band My Baby and decided this was exactly the sort of old choogaloo I wanted to hear booming across the field.

All great fun. Raghu Dixit was also tremendously entertaining.
