Our twice yearly gathering will soon be upon us again. 15 mins of DJ fame is, as ever, up for grabs to one and all + they'll be funky South African live music from London Zulu (I can't believe they haven't played a Relay before!)

Will you be there?
Will you put your name down for a DJ set?
Will you buy me a pint of pale ale?

A a tribute to all those groups,(Bucks Fizz, The Searchers,The Rolling Stones) who have to drag their sad and sorry, knackered old bodies around the country in search of fame and the mortgage money doing the same old routine, I too am no longer playing hard to get. I need the adrenaline rush and the attribution of cool that goes with this gig.
Jamie, I will be there though it may take me many rivers to cross and many trains to ride and even if it costs me a pale ale.

We've got ourselves a party already!

Thanks Will. Anyone else want to volunteer for deck duties?

London Zulu sound like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F5n6OxoX9s

Of the DJs: Will, Dominic, Debbie and Joe should be familiar to forumistas.
Aly Prince is away, but is burning me a CD to play on the night.
Norman and Gary are reviving their "No Reason" podcast live.
Deb, Freestyle and Blind Bling are old Relay hands.
Gordon Wedderburn does a jazzy internet radio show.
Elisavet writes for fRoots
Wendy is a friend of Ted and Maxine's
Stephano is a gifted jazz guitarist
Nina is a UK based Brazilian singer, probably best known for Smoke City's 90s hit "Underwater Love"

Looks like we're in for a good one. Please come down if you can.

The postie has just delivered a package from Aly, containing a number of CDs and instructions on which tracks to play and in which order.

I'm resisting the temptation to have a proper look so that I can be surprised on the night.

I remember at a Relay back in Darbucka days, Will Vine telling Aly that his selections always sounded like the music from a Marx Brothers film. I'm pretty sure he meant it as a compliment.

Thanks to No Reason DJs Norman & Gary for the James Hunter CD given away during the competition section of their DJ Relay appearance this evening. London Zulu were one of the best live acts I've seen upstairs at the Ritzy, so it was a pity I had to leave before the end. Thanks to Jamie for organising this enjoyable evening. Must remember to buy you a pint of pale ale next time...

Yeah, I thought the band were really good. I'd certainly pay to see them. Well done Jamie.

Fine time attempting to master the one switch I needed to operate (and almost succeeding).

Absentees will have missed-

Let It All hang Out - Les Hombres
Kelle Magni - Cheikh Lo
Dua Dua -DVA
Drive My Car / The Word - The Beatles (George Martin Love mix)
Big Bad Wolf - Ska Cubano

Sorry I am now reminded I meant to come to this... Not on the ball regarding what was on where this weekend - my own fault though a bit tricky leaving toddler at the mo.
