Something reminded today me that I attended this concert:

I'd completely forgotten about it. Probably because I spent most of the time about as far away from the stage as it was possible to be, yet still able to claim to have been there. My memory is that I spent the day I really trying to enjoy myself but failing to face up to the fact that the whole experience was a bit shit, really, if you weren't in a position to actually hear or see what was going on.

Were any other SOTW forumers there on the day?

I didn’t go to the concert, but I was living in Wembley at the time and I was one of a bunch of guys hired by a local temp agency to clean up after it finished. It was my first visit to Wembley Stadium since the 1966 World Cup Final. When we arrived at about 10 o’clock we were told that a professional outfit was already on the job, and we were sent home with a payment of 2 quid each. The idea of going to a stadium show never appealed to me, but I will be making a trip to the Olympic Gymnasium here tomorrow to see Paul McCartney.

I went to that gig. On the halfway line more or less. The thrill at the time was seeing CSNY, and the Band were a revelation to me. The only time i ever saw Joni but sadly in my least favourite incarnation. The Tom Scott band made it all a bit MOR rock
