A chance purchase, many years ago, Dave Peabody's LP Americana featuring contributions from Flaco Jimenez and Oscar Tellez, Charlie Musselwhite, and Big Joe Duskin amongst others, remains a great favourite. I knew nothing of Dave Peabody when I bought it beyond seeing his name against some photographs of blues musicians, and I don't know a whole lot more now. I wish I could get down there to see him but ce n'est pas possible. I'm sure it'll be a very entertaining gig.

That's funny, Will, as Dave has shown me that album and I've salivated over the talent on board - Flaco and Charlie Muss! It has never been reissued - Dave did approach Ace about doing it on CD but they declined. A shame as it is a lost gem.

Dave is a very nice guy who I initially met thru fRoots and then got to know better thru his touring with Charile Muss and Honeyboy Edwards. I'm honoured to have this Brixton veteran playing at my Ritzy night and hope a few of you can drop along to experience his laconic brand of country blues.

Just a reminder that Dave plays this Sunday. He may live in Brixton but rarely plays there, tending to work the blues circuit in the provinces. Dave's been a pro' for 51 years and worked with many greats - I'm hoping to ask him if he had much contact with Davy Graham and that boho scene. He's a good raconteur so should have some stories to tell. Hope to see some of you there.
