Apologies for the late notice:

Olcay Bayir
Wed 11th March, 7.45pm
Sands Films
, 82 St Marychurch St, Rotherhithe (Rotherhithe Overground)

Inspired by the meeting of Asian and Mediterranean musical traditions, singer, songwriter and composer Olcay Bayir's songs unfold stories of Anatolian love and mystery. Olcay is from Turkey, based in London and is a classically trained soprano with a velveteen voice like no other. On her stunning debut album, Neva/Harmony, her Western training combines perfectly with her passion for the rich musical heritage of her homeland, allowing her to craft intricate and unusual melodic phrases, distinct harmonies and captivating, richly-layered textures.

Her exceptional approach incorporates elements of classical music, folk and improvisation through her original songs and arrangements of folk songs within the region of Anatolia and its surrounding. Hers is an eclectic, contemporary and mystical sound.

"Olcay Bayir is an impressive newcomer to London’s vibrant global music scene." The Guardian

She'll be with her full band - here's the line-up:

Olcay Bayir - vocals
Stelios Katsatsidis - accordion
Ewan Bleach - clarinet
George Tsiaiusidis - guitar
Aurel Qirjo - violin

Tickets here: include hot drinks - quite unique! And the pub is only a hop away.
