"Ain't That A Lot Of Love" - Homer Banks
"Mi Cholita Linda For" - Banda Conmoción
"Hang On Sloopy" - Arsenio Rodriguez (thank you, John Poole)
"Guantanamera" - L'African Fiesta National

A great evening, and a great live band. The full line-up, with drummer, extra singers and guitars, must make for a very exhausting night.

Thanks, as always, for organising, Jamie. Onwards in all directions!

A great night. Pleased to have passed the fitness test and made my seasonal reappearance. Guinness is stronger than I remember it. Hope I didn't upset anybody.

Not at all Will, you were good company as ever.

You did say "The jazz musician Tony Coe said a band without a drummer...er...no, I can't remember what he said"

So, what did Tony Coe say about drummer-less bands?

He was quoted once as saying something like "You have to be a bloody good drummer to be better than no drummer at all."

Funny, playful, possibly heartfelt? I don't know.

Sorry to Tom....I left your cd behind....was looking forward to shoving it in the truck's player tomorrow as I sped off on my rounds. In the film of my life each scene starts with something new being shoved into said player, so that's the exciting soundtrack sorted. At present the plot's looking a bit thin though.

Talking of whom.... the missing soundtrack consisted of:

Love Come Down - Evelyn Champagne King
The Bug - Poison Dart feat. Warrior Queen
Queen Of The World - Claudette
Ain't Nothing Going On (But The Rent) - Gwen Guthrie
More Than a Woman - Aaliyah
Dance - ESG

Or bits thereof. His theme was Black women and strong basslines, or maybe the other way round.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself too. The sound level was perfect, the band gently rocked, and it was good to see a good few old faces as well as new (nice to be introduced to the singer Najma Aktar). Thanks as ever, Jamie, for all your hard work and apologies to anyone I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to.
