A wonderful concert from London based Turkish singer Cigdem Aslan at Dalston's Vortex last night. Featuring music from Turkey and Greece, with a bit of klezmer thrown in for good measure. A Med mix that could somehow only have happened in London. Two long sets from the sweet and passionate voiced Ms Aslan and a fine 10 piece band (including members of Balkan-klez ensemble She'koyakh, with whom she regularly sings). The second of three nights there to launch her debut album Mortissa (Asphalt Tango). North London's Turkish community was out in force, singing along and waving there arms (there wasn't enough room to dance). A great night, although that DJ they got in to play between the live sets wasn't up to much, if you ask me.

It's all happening again tonight and I'd be down there for more, if I hadn't been invited to a wedding by my Turkish in-laws (never underestimate the lure of free humus and raki)
