Anglo-Colombian duo Bitch 'n' Monk release their debut EP on November 29th 2013 at Camden's 'Green Note', with support from World Champion Female Beatboxer Bellatrix and Latin American Musician of the Year 2013 Camilo Menjura.

Bitch 'n' Monk have established themselves as one of London's most exciting and original new acts since being recommended by Yoko Ono in June. They have made an impression at major London venues the 'Royal Festival Hall' and 'Rich Mix', as well as playing in Berlin and at Paris' infamous 'La Cigale' for the annual 'Les Femmes s'en Melent' festival. They are now releasing their debut EP, recorded at the Union Chapel, mixed by Chris Morphitis (Mavrika, Owiny Sigoma Band) and produced by Les Mommsen - who has produced and recorded diverse major artists from The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, to Adriano Adewale and Benjamim Taubkin.

Bitch 'n' Monk are the collaboration between beatboxing soprano and guitarist Heidi Heidelberg and experimental Colombian flautist Mauricio Velasierra. Shortlisted to play at Meltdown Festival for their experimental creativity and musicality, their intensely emotive songs combine lyrical and sensual, neurotic and furious. Their strong emphasis on improvisation, and influences from Bach to Meredith Monk, Coltrane to Ligeti, emerge in intricately arranged compositions that can take orchestral proportions. The lyrics - political, erotic and obscure - fuse with dark basslines and deep groove, thrilling vocals and innovative use of pedals, for shows that are ever-varied and truly original.

As composers they have written scores for experimental film, jazz ensembles, and plays, collaborating with award-winning cinematographers Ines Von Bonhorst and Yuri Pirondi, and saxophonist Peter Ehwald. Soloists in their own right, Mauricio has played at WOMAD and Rudolstadt Festival, and collaborated with Zoe Rahman, John Williams and Dave Okumu, among others. A musician and composer experienced in diverse fields, Heidi has worked with jazz composers and musicians Jason Yarde, Gary Crosby OBE and sound artist Lina Lapelyte, as well as training in classical voice with Joan Rodgers CBE.
