Thanks for posting those pieces, Adam. As Garth says, you write so well, and it is so readable. As a non-musician, I have no understanding of WHY these songs sound so fantastic, so it is fascinating to read your explanations of what he is doing. Even if I still don't quite see how it is that this makes them sound so much better than some other guy playing a similar bunch of notes....

His tone, the attack at the front edge of the notes, the timing - in short, his style.

Thanks for reading.

It would appear that Mick 'n' Keef are covering the costs of his funeral:

It's the least they could do, given how the Stones leaned on his work in their early careers, but good on 'em just the same.

great gesture I'd say. A bit harsh to say it's the least they could do. How many other examples could one quote? e.g WIll Damien Hirst pay for Bridget Riley's when she goes?

To be fair, that story that I linked to did also say that they had been funding Hubert's medical bills prior to his passing.

Harsh? Guilty as charged, but I'm sure that their skin is thick enough to put up with a relatively mild rebuke from the likes of me. Of course, there are some in these parts who would say I was being overly generous.

As for Damien, his greater debt is probably to the chemist who first synthesised formaldehyde.

As long as you're alive, it's not too late to try and change your karma - or at the very least address it. Sorry if that sounds sententious but it's what I believe.

There's a short interview with Hubert Sumlin on Mark Coles most recent Shed programme. Recorded in London nine years ago when Hubert was touring with Pinetop Perkins;
