Let's analyse that opening chord to "Hard Day's Night", shall we, boys and girls?

Spock. Analysis?

Fascinating, Captain. Having first dissected it, the mutants appear to have used MUSICOLOGY to finally destroy this music.

When the text says "This sounds NOTHING like....." and it sounds just the same to me was when I knew I wasn't going to get much out of this.

didn't it make a good simple point: The ringing piano is key to the sound of that opening 'clang' chord. So no guitarists can ever get it to sound quite like that. But then hearing the Beatles do it live would've been even better anyway, and they didn't have pianner in those days

What it doesn't even begin to address is how they came to use a chord like that to open the number. That's the interesting part. That chord had never been used in pop music before, let alone as a massive introduction. In it's context, it is no less than the sound of the 60s turning from black and white into colour. (But I would say that, wouldn't I?)
