Local Hero

Delayed due to a sojourn in Italy, which included DJing with The Shout Collective, I'd like to mention Erroll Linton's sets at Jamboree on 31st May. Adam (of this parish) was on guitar as part of the full band. To say they were good would be an understatement. They were bloody brilliant! I've seen E and A lots of times before in various combinations, duo, band etc and always enjoyed them. This was different though; musically and vocally, excellent individually, the band cooked on gas as a unit. They were tight, very bluesy and seemed to be having as good a time as we were.
A real live music highlight of this year!

Thanks Aly, coming from a man who has seen more than his fair share of blues bands, I take that as a great compliment. Cheers!

You're telling me Adam. Whilst over in Italy, I spent much time sitting metaphorically at Aly's feet, saying things like "So please tell me again about the first time you saw Muddy Waters"

You, Errol and the band were bloody amazing at Jamboree btw

Thanks, Jamie. We were saying how much we wished it had been recorded, but the best ones never are. Aly knows my favourite of his stories (although I have fond memories of when Ted posted a clip of The Who in 1964 and Aly just said quietly, "Oh yes, I was at that gig") - it concerns Zoot Money and a certain guest guitarist's first ever gig in the UK...
