I fully concur with Mr Druker's analysis.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a funky soul train to ride

I've just been given the go ahead to write a feature for fRoots on the UK Cajun scene. Here's a clip from the performance that inspired me to ask: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7cgFZ2549M

If that don't start your weekend with a swing, seek help immediately.

You can't see Mr Renton doing the Cajun two-step as he was seriously bopping away out of camera range. A fine band live, thanks for the reminder Jamie.

Maybe you could ask them, on my behalf, Jamie: would it kill them to smile a little while playing such good-time music? (Although, to be fair, a few of the dancers looked to be enjoying themselves.)

Nobody would want to see that Aly. And I can only apologise to you and everyone else in the Whitby Pavilion Main Hall who had to witness it on the day.

Hopefully you'll get a chance to ask them yourself Rob, as I'm working to get a slimmed down version of the band to play at Jamboree some time next year.

One Saturday night in 1966, I dropped into a pub on the Headington roundabout outside Oxford when I was failing to get a ride to London. The pub was deserted apart from a couple dancing to Lee Dorsey's Working in the Coal Mine on the jukebox. Now after all these years, I've finally dicovered what the words are, thanks to hearing this version on Sandy Harsch's RTE country show (which is much better than the Radio 2 one).

That's one hell of a version Uiwangmike.

The Youtube side panel for that clip alerted me to this take on it from 1989 featuring Dolly Parton and bigshot NOLA friends:
