Me too, Jamie. Just check the guy in the crowd (around 0:20) with his arms folded and a sour expression on his face. That's me, when I went to see Brian Wilson, wondering why I'd shelled out forty quid. Of course, that guy could have also been a devout Chuck Berry fan, or have had a row with his 'date', as they were called then. I'd also like to think that he'd got nowhere with his sexual advances he'd read about in a men's magazine, and angrily asked her the old question: "What'samatter? You a lesbian?" To which she gave him him the old answer: "Yeh, since I met you I am, buster".

Hey! It's Friday! It's pissing it down outside. I'm turning up some trousers and struggling with the sewing machine (prior to this lifetime, I surely wasn't a tailor, nor in this one either).

Here's Thurston Harris, for your weekend listening pleasure.

Apparently there's a programme on BBC4 tonight which asks ' whatever happened to rock'n'roll/is rock 'n' roll in crisis?'.

To which I offer this riposte. Norman may appreciate the badges on some of the girls in the audience.

Great stuff! Danny's hair is a work of architectural genius.

I reckon that the young teen delinq, who has the camera swivel on him after the 'badge shot', has an even better hair do.

Can I start a side thread: Musician dudes who wore turbans. I can think of at least two more, but don't want to exhaust the list. Of course, there may have only been three.

The Best of Friends.

I like the "finding-the-screwdiver-in-the-bottom-of-the-toolkit" percussion.

Day off tomorrow. DJing into the wee small hours at Jamboree tomorrow night...life is good!

And just been made even better by the discovery of this. Ain't Nothin But a Tramp by Margie Hendricks (the woman who dueted with Brother Ray on Hit the Road Jack) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGhscGwKaQ8

I would love to get to your gig tomorrow night Jamie, but I can't.

Margie Hendricks was great and, as the poster of your clip says, she shines out of Ray's biography like a beacon. Some great guitar on that track. Some great guitar on this track too:

Rob: whenever I think of Koko Taylor I automatically start humming this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7GYGe8gSGY

John: a vast improvement on the originals. Thank you.

Seeing as there's some polite chit-chat regarding Amy Winehouse elsewhere on the forum, I thought I'd start the weekend with Trio Valore's organ-driven instrumental take on "Rehab"
