I'm afraid I'm having a Lucy moment. Radio 4 have started to broadcast a daily reading about Louis Armstrong (book Of The Week 10.45) and the reader calls him Lou-ee not Lewis as it should be. It,s embedded in the BBC's psyche, even the jazz specialists on Radio 3 do it. Haven't they listened to 'Hello Dolly... this is Lewis Dolly'? He was born and brought up in the English quarter of NO. Aaarrrggghhh...

relax, he was both. The Beeb should throw in some more 'Looiss-es" - they've sometimes barely got a clue!

Is the program any good or not? So little time, don't want to miss it if it's quite good.
Edit: Equally well don't want to be annoyed or disappointed by it if it's a bit rank, limp, dispiritingly read, or poorly researched
Edit encore: ok, I started to listen to it, I lasted about 1 minute. It's read as if it's for people who have no familiarity whatsoever with Lewis Armstrong or his music. A programme for the utterly unitiated in that sphere, good luck to them, I hope it leads somewhere. I could've done with a different reader to spice it up a bit, this one takes the approach that the listeners are senile children. Maybe I'm being unfair, who knows?
Encore edit encore: if I fell sick & was confined to quarters for a spell I'd probably give it a go, and enjoy it. Life has a habit of getting too busy
Encore edit encore incore: this is not a blog, cos if twas, none shud reddit. And so t'worktwerks, blather, blather amen.

Agree about the reading, makes what could have been a really interesting biog bland and unadventurous. The guy could be reading from a household goods catalogue. It doesn't inspire me to look out the book. Ironic given the music. A well written concise biog was published by David Bradbury a few years ago. I'm calmer now!
