Have people here heard David Wax Museum? They play what I think gets called Americana, with good melodies and mariachi horns.

They're at WOMAD and before that, the Slaughterd Lamb in Clerkenwell tomorrow night. I'll find out more then as I'm interviewing them for fRoots.

Details, video clips etc can be found here: http://www.davidwaxmuseum.com/

Yeah, I heard their current album. Very much a post-Vampire Weekend band, I thought, especially in David Wax's singing. There was one track in particular on the album that stood out for me, as it was the most mariachi/son jarocho-ish, with the accordion really at the fore.

They'd be very good live, I imagine ... especially on a hot day with beer in hand.

Strictly in the name of scientific research, I'll test this theory out tomorrow and report back.

The results proved positive.

Very, very strong live. More acoustic/folky than on the albums (but rockin' too when need be!)

They're playing WOMAD this weekend.
